A refined urban sanctuary overlooking the Han River. Design Proposal
Located along the Han River in Seoul, this project was developed as a design direction proposal that departs from the conventional furniture layout and materiality of typical Korean apartment interiors. Informed by in-depth conversations with the client, the design looks beyond trends to focus on what matters most: creating a home where she feels truly at ease. The result is a calm and restorative sanctuary that enhances the quality of her everyday life and fosters a positive rhythm of living.
The concept is shaped by the atmosphere of dusk. As sunset light reflects into the apartment and the river view unfolds beyond the window, the interior gradually transitions into a peaceful and relaxed setting. This shifting quality of light informs the overall mood of the space.
A palette of natural wood and stone introduces warmth and tactility, grounding the interior in a sense of comfort. The client’s existing contemporary furniture, characterized by clean, sculptural forms, adds a refined modern presence, balancing softness with clarity.
The living and dining areas are aligned along the full-height glazing to fully engage with the river view, establishing a seamless connection between interior and landscape.
The proposal presents a tranquil yet sophisticated home—an urban sanctuary defined by natural materiality, modern design, and the quiet presence of the Han River.
